Printable self-reflection sheet for students to identify a glow and a grow after tutoring. Includes familiar BookNook emojis to help students reflect on how well they met session expectations.

How to Use this Resource

At the End of Tutoring Sessions:

✔ Introduce the self-reflection sheet at the end of each tutoring session as a way for students to highlight achievements or identify areas of focus.

✔ Encourage students to reflect on a “glow” and a “grow” after each session to celebrate successes and pinpoint areas for improvement.

✔ Make it part of your closing routine by giving students time to fill it out after the session has ended.

✔ Make it reusable: laminate the page or slip it into a plastic binder sleeve to complete with a dry-erase marker, erase, and reuse across sessions!

✔ Use self-reflection sheets for goal-setting by revisiting previous reflections and setting new growth targets for the next tutoring session or week.

At the End of the Program:

✔ Use the reflection sheet as a culminating activity to help students look back on their tutoring journey.

✔ Ask students to identify their biggest “glow” and most improved “grow” from the program.

✔ Encourage goal-setting for future learning based on what they discovered about themselves during tutoring.

Family Engagement

Share completed self-reflection sheets with families to provide insight into the student’s learning experience. Use alongside takeaway tickets for conferences by collecting them over time to create a visual record of the student's reflections.

Student Engagement

Build a consistent closing routine by designating a student “Exit Lead” to manage the distribution and collection of tickets, ensuring everyone has time to reflect after the tutoring session ends. Allow students to decide whether to keep their reflection private or share a “key takeaway” aloud with the group.
