Your role is to assist your learner with logging in and setting up the computer screen so they can see and hear their tutor while working on their BookNook lesson all in the BookNook platform. In some cases, there may be a technical issue that does not allow the BookNook tutor and students to connect. If your student(s) is not able to connect to a BookNook tutor, Please contact Customer Care for support.
Students need a laptop or computer with the most up to date Chrome browser and headphones. Students may use a tablet or iPad; students should use the Chrome browser for BookNook on the tablet or iPad. Mobile devices, such as cell phones, will not work with BookNook. Please reference the Tech Guide for BookNook Tutoring prior to starting tutoring for more specific information about device types and compatibility.
Yes, BookNook tutoring is synchronous. Students will interact with a live, BookNook certified tutor who will provide the interactive lesson and engage in instruction.
Students will need to be able to hear, see, and chat with tutor using audio, microphone, and video. We strongly encourage all students to have a headset with a microphone to prevent noise and distraction for others in the room. Most laptops or devices have built-in webcam.
Site administrators work with the BookNook team to set up logins for students. Student login type - manual, Clever, or Classlink - will be communicated prior to the session start. If you are unsure, please contact your site administrator or point of contact. Visit Student BookNook Login Instructions to learn more about logging into BookNook and watch video demonstrations for your student’s login type.
Don’t hesitate to contact your student’s school administrator or point of contact, who leads BookNook Tutoring. They will communicate the scheduled times and days of your student’s virtual tutoring.
Contact your student’s school administrator regarding extraordinary circumstances for requesting a time change of your student’s scheduled virtual tutoring. Virtual tutoring limits the change of times and schedules once the program is live, as your student will have an assigned tutor for the duration of the program. Our tutors are contracted to provide tutoring to your student as agreed by the program details of your student’s site.
If the Tutor does not join the session within 3 minutes, a pop up will notify you that the BookNook substitution system is currently working to find a replacement tutor. If no Tutor joins within 10 minutes, a pop up will inform students that a tutor is not available.
Please reach out directly to your student’s school regarding any tutor concerns. Do also reach out to Customer Care at BookNook via support ticket.
Administrators and educators with a BookNook admin account will have access to students’ lesson information during the BookNook Tutoring Program.
Our tutors have been contracted for the scheduled time during the week of the program. If a student can no longer participate in the tutoring program, please communicate with your student’s school site. If your student cannot attend a specific scheduled session due to extraordinary circumstances, please let your site contact know. The tutor will remain available for the entire tutoring session, regardless of when/if the student appears.
BookNook Virtual Tutoring is only available during the scheduled time when your student will connect to a live tutor. If the student joins during a non-scheduled time, the student cannot access content or connect with a live tutor.
You can access Customer Care at https://support.booknook.com/s/ via chat and ticket. Please include name of campus site, student name(s), student grade(s), and time of tutoring session.
