1. Show Session Expectations Slideshow

ABOUT

Introduce student expectations for BookNook tutoring with this slideshow – each slide showcase one expectation for discussion.

How to Use this Resource

Use the slideshow to introduce each expectation at the start of the program or each week.
Click the three dots    in the bottom-left corner of the slide deck and select “Enter full screen” to share it with students.
Walk through one expectation per slide, allowing students to ask questions and share examples of what success looks like.
Make it interactive: ask students to describe how they will demonstrate each expectation during sessions.

Student Engagement

Turn expectations into an interactive experience by having students “act out” or demonstrate the “right” and “wrong” ways to follow each slide during the introduction.

2. Display Session Expectations Poster

ABOUT

Keep BookNook Tutoring student expectations visible during sessions with this printable poster.

How to Use this Resource

Print and display the poster in your tutoring area on a BookNook Bulletin Board so students see it at the start of every session.

To create a large, poster-sized version using a regular printer, choose “Poster” or “Tile” in your printer settings to print across multiple pages. Trim and tape the pages together to create a display-sized version for your wall or bulletin board.

Have students sign the poster as a group pledge to follow the expectations.

Student Engagement

Empower students to take ownership of these expectations by having them sign the poster as a personal pledge or lead their own daily check-ins using the checklists. To weave in peer recognition, appoint “secret behavior catchers” to look for classmates who embody a positive mindset. You can have peers utilize Student Certificates to celebrate these moments, ensuring that encouragement is shared by everyone!
